It was my first time soldering so I bought a cheap soldering iron and screwed the tip up. After I realized that I should have tinned the tip properly it was too late.

As expected from the coaxial design, the tonality held up well over quite a wide listening area, with a good sense of stereo placement and a stable phantom centre image. With the initial settings, the highs were a little forward-sounding for my taste, but dropping the HF a notch or two using the rear panel EQ controls brought about a better balance, as did setting the LF 'environment' filter one notch down to allow for my placement of the speakers, which was close to a wall but away from corners. It is probably fair to describe the sound as revealing and involving, with a good sense of being able to hear depth in the mix. Imperfect mixes have nowhere to hide, which includes many CD releases of material recorded back in the '60s and '70s. Harshness and distortions show up very easily, but when the same focus is brought to bear on a good mix, the quality certainly shows through. Switching to the S6s, there was no dramatic curtailing of the lows and there was still more than enough SPL for comfortable listening. That slight trimming of the bass extension and the slightly higher crossover frequency did, if anything, bring the mid-range into even sharper focus, though as before I had to drop the HF level a couple of notches to get what felt like the right balance in my own studio.

Since this is primarily a gaming monitor, the input lag is very low at 10.5 milliseconds and the pixel response is high at 2 milliseconds, so you will not be experiencing much in the way of motion blur. Click on Photo Not only that, but those of you who enjoy your First Person Shooters will find that your accuracy will be improved due to the low lag and high pixel response and refresh rate. As the GL2460HM is Energy Star certified, the power used is quite low, with 15 watts during standard mode, and 13 watts during Eco mode, which makes it environmentally friendly and cost effective as well.

We sample the based on hdr content, refresh rate, remote control and screen size. It has good reflection handling and very good gray uniformity. Unfortunately, the input lag and the pixel response time are not good for serious gaming. Finally, the bad ergonomics might have you looking for a good VESA mount to help you place it comfortably. Weight (with stand): 11.8lbs (5.4 kg) The design of the Sceptre C325W is decent. The entire casing feels sturdy and it has a clean, professional look. The stand has a unique design and supports the monitor well, while the curved profile enhances the horizontal viewing angles. The monitor, however, has very bad ergonomics.

The peak SPL is quoted as 109dB for the S6 and 116dB for the S8, both measured at one metre. All the connections and controls are on the rear panel, where the inputs (balanced XLR or TRS jack) can be found, along with a variable control to adjust the gain. Mains comes in on the usual IEC connector, with an adjacent power switch and LED, and the voltage is factory set, either to a nominal 110V (USA) or 230V (Europe). Those aforementioned EQ settings comprise the HF driver level (0dB, +1dB, -1.5dB, -4dB), an acoustic space setting affecting only the LF driver (0dB, -1.5dB, -3dB, -6dB) and a 24dB/octave high-pass filter (off, 60Hz, 80Hz, or 100Hz). This latter control can trim the bass end to provide an impression of how the mix might sound on domestic speakers with less extended lows.

On the back, we see balanced XLR and TRS inputs along with a fairly complex acoustic space controls. There’s an HF driver control that lets you attenuate the power as much as -4dB. Lastly, we see an HP filter that goes from 60Hz to 100Hz.

It also has a much lower input lag and a faster pixel response time and supports the FreeSync VRR implementation which is excellent if you play games. The LG 27UD58-B has a much better resolution that allows it to display more detail on the screen. The Sceptre C325W, on the other hand, has a higher native contrast ratio that delivers deep blacks, and a better reflection handling so it can be placed in a room with many small light sources.

I will update this post once I have it hooked up. Original review: June 21, 2018 I bought Sceptre E249BV-SR 720p LED TV 24' from Amazon for my camper. By the time I went camping and got the TV out of the box and install it was a couple of weeks past the return cutoff. I couldn't get it to work in the camper. All I could get was a blue screen and a message 'No signal'. I thought maybe it was the campers antenna. I disassembled and took it home and tried it on my Dish network with the exact same results.

I just need to set aside some time to open it up and investigate. Using my old LG 17 inch flatron monitor. Man this is painful. So I was able to crack open the Sceptre monitor today. I pulled out the circuit board used for power management(not sure on the technical term of this board). I noticed some capacitors right off the bat that looked blown. What I'm a little confused about is all the white goop I saw.

But all in all great TV. At ConsumerAffairs we love to hear from both consumers and brands; please never hesitate to. We take privacy seriously, please refer to our to learn more about how we keep you protected.

The requirements for running a Mac Mini aren’t high. Since Mac Mini itself is a budget Apple system, the monitor needs to be as such too. You may want a monitor that doesn’t need you to pay a fortune. Although you are most welcome to look out for high-end monitors such as those with professional grade colors, we are more focused here on what an average person would go for.

(use your normal original cabling) Good luck, and smooth computing! There would be a popping sound, but that only means the liquids inside are boiling from heat and since you just started it it shouldn't be the problem. If you hear a loud pop though that means capacitors have blown off the board and if you turn the monitor from side to side you should hear the little guy rolling around inside. Yeah the sound I hear when its 'warming up' is more of a buzzing/popping.

There was a nice breeze from the screen door, when all of a sudden seven gang banger burst in to the room. I sprang from my recliner and ninja rolled behind my Sceptre 55' UHD TV. As the bullets flow, I was able to retrieve my AK-47, which I keep for just such an occasion. When I sprang forth with cat like reflexes to quickly dispatch the intruders I noticed the bullets were actually ricocheting off my fine Sceptre 55' UHD TV. Original review: Feb. 5, 2018 I bought my 9 year old son a Sceptre 50-in LED television for Christmas from Santa Claus.

PROS: Quite inexpensive. Solid color output. Energy efficient. CONS: Stand isn’t fully adjustable. Lacks DisplayPort input and USB ports.

The obvious advantage of the coaxial design is that the low and high frequencies originate from the same place, rather than from two different drivers spaced apart on a baffle — the practical benefit of which is a wider sweet spot and more precise stereo imaging. The down side is that it is more technically difficult to get right. In designing these speakers, PreSonus teamed up with speaker-design expert Dave Gunness, of Fulcrum Acoustic, whose 'TQ' algorithms have been integrated into the Sceptre's onboard DSP to coax the best result from the drivers and cabinet, including handling the necessary time alignment between the HF and LF sections of the driver.

So the only way around this is to install a digital receiver. And then set the TV to channel 3. It seems to keep that channel ok. Today I reset the channels 4 times because it just would not keep the station. The station was having issues and my TV was dropping the channel from the saved channels I programmed into it.

But once selected in the Control Panel, the display goes black for a few seconds, comes back on for a second, then goes black for a few more seconds. It just keeps performing this cycle until I select 1920x1080 at which point it stabilizes.

Your decision skaz. Once again, good luck! And smoooth computing!

Replied to email including tracking details for all shipments so far. Original review: May 11, 2018 I purchased a 55' Sceptre LED television on May 5th, 2016. I ordered it offline so by the time I received it and had it up and running, this television was being used in my home for exactly 2 years literally to date.

The original set lasted just over three months which means Walmart washes their hands off the whole deal. However, the Sceptre service people were courteous but have only one service center in City of Industry, California. So I had them send a box and packing to me, got an RMA, packed the box as required, brought it to FEDEX and sent via pre-paid shipping to CA. Within a few days they notified me that the set was damaged in transit and they were sending a brand new set which I received in Everett, MA in 7 days.

I hopped online and filed with the warranty service. They said, 'Here's a shipping label, send it to us and we will look at it.' Took about three days for FedEx to deliver to them.

Scepter Monitor Review For Macbook Pro

Original review: Oct. 8, 2018 I bought this tv for my kids room. They had a little small tv that I used when I was in college and I figured it was time for a slight upgrade.

I tried what you recommended and, indeed, I can get the monitor to hold steady at 1920x1200 using DisplayConfigX set to 135 MHz on the pixel clock. It runs at 53 MHz refresh rate by doing so, which seems awfully low to me, but the monitor seems to tolerate it. However, I still cannot get rid of the red and green dots that appear periodically after waking the display from power saving mode. The only cure is to switch to a new supported resolution and then back to the 1920x1200. This clears the red and green dots for some reason. I saw another post about buying the same monitor and having the same problems. Unfortunately I am working overseas right now and had the monitor shipped to my UK location from Newegg.com.

I paid 699 for the Apple screen 6 months ago and love it. I had a dual set up with my old 15 studio display that is 4 years old. It was very dim and small compared to the 20, so I am happy to have another 20 instead. If you belong to Costco you should pick it up with confidence.

Thursday, March 8: Received email that tv shipped. Friday, March 9: Emailed to confirm that was the same tv I was told processed for shipping on Monday. Wednesday, March 14: Received same tv but it is now missing a piece to the base. Thursday, March 15: Spoke with manager named Son. Was told to test the tv laying flat on the ground and that if it worked there was something in my home that was making the tv not work.

Frequency Range: 2 Hz - 20 kHz Drivers: 1x1', 1x6.25' Powered: Yes PreSonus Sceptre S6 monitors continue this brand’s policy of delivering quality at a reasonable price. Because of that, they are by far some of the. Design In some ways, what PreSonus did with Sceptre S6 took some guts. Instead of going with the standard transducer configuration, they opted out for a more complicated and elusive coax setup. In other words, instead of having the tweeter sitting above a woofer, the two share the same axis.
