My 2010 Macbook Pro lasted almost 7 (and still works). I picked up a 2015 MacBook Pro 13' last December (not long after the 2016 models came out). I 'weighed both in the balance', and chose the 2015 as being more suitable to my personal needs (particularly regarding the 'legacy ports'). Quite satisfied with the new MacBook.
