Swatches L-R: Colourpop ‘Barracuda’, Maybelline ‘Touch of Spice’, Colourpop ‘Ellarie’, ABH ‘Allison’, Nars ‘Audacious’ & Sephora ’01 Always Red’ Winter is coming! (it really is, although it’ll be summer in the southern hemisphere woop woop). As we are fast approaching the final season of the year, where the days are short and the nights long, and like with our wardrobe, many of us will change up our lip colour to reflect the long, dark, gloomy days. For some unspoken reason, we tend to go from light and brighter colours in sheer or glossy textures to more bold, full-bodied, vampy hues. With that in mind, I thought I’d share with you my top lipstick picks for fall/autumn and winter. Some are old favourites and some are new to my lipstick wardrobe. All are fab shades though (and great for skin tones similar to mine, south east asian/ light to medium, warm with yellow undertones/equivalent to MAC NC25-NC40) and will see you right the way through the colder months.

The MAC It’s A Strike fall 2016 makeup collection takes us to play bowling while looking flawless and winning with our impeccable beauty look. Packed with soothing autumnal colors with bursts of brights, the collection makes sure we head straight to fall with updated makeup kits matching the.

It skips, shows patches of skin showing through it and I had the hardest time making this go on neat and precise. Currant + Sin But of course I wouldn’t wear Currant by itself. Here I layered Sin on top and I love the effect! Sin becomes much more intense and a bit more plum toned.

I love a good lip and fall and winter time are the best seasons to go all out with some vampier and more outspoken lipstick shades. The three shades I’m about to show you are all a little bit different from the usual fall lip. There is a brown that isn’t exactly a nude, but that definitely ties into that 90s lip trend. We also have a bright purple with a pink undertone that makes for a great pop of color. Lastly there is a deep dark vampy red. MAC lipsticks retail for €19.50 and a MAC Lip Pencil for €16.50.

Both matte and sheen finishes look great in berry lipstick, so pick to your liking. I'm really into this Too Faced option, which never feels dry and stays put for hours.

And now I’m obsessed. It’s a mid town full on brown shade and it is perfect for that 90s vibe. I find it not too warm and not too cool toned, which makes it very versatile. What I was afraid of was it not being easy to pair with a make up look, but so far I’ve been very successful. Flat Out Fabulous I had heard great things about Flat Out Fabulous.

Where Whirl and Sin are definitely matte, Flat Out Fabulous almost has a powdery/ velvet like texture to it. As you can see it skipped a little bit at the beginning of the swatch, but this is definitely a lipstick that has to warm up a bit for it to smoothly glide onto your lips. The other two posed no problems whatsoever. Whirl Full face, Whirl is very flattering against my pale skin tone. I have very pigmented lips naturally, which means that on me, this looks quite neutral. It’s not a nude per se, but I need a slightly more outspoken color for it too have a nude type of effect on me anyway. It probably doesn’t go well with the eye look I wore the day I took these pictures, but I have worn it with a very warm toned look with golds, bronzes and cranberries and I found it really gave the look a certain edge.

Flat Out Fabulous I love a bright lip! If you’re pale like me anything pink will pop tremendously and that’s what Flat Out Fabulous does. As it has a purple undertone to it, it makes my eyes look a touch more green. If you truly want this lip to stand out than a very basic eye is probably best, but I like going quite full on and I like how the pink clashes with the blue on my lower lash line here.

What does mac use for paint. MAC Hot Tahiti Lipstick If you personally prefer more orange based lipsticks, then a perfect Fall shade for you could be the MAC Hot Tahiti Lipstick. MAC states it to be a ‘ soft reddish-coral‘ and it is an orange based deep red lipstick with slightly coral undertones. The finish is described as glaze and it is quite a glossy lipstick. MAC Hot Tahiti Lipstick (swatches) Hot Tahiti is an amazing match for those with golden and olive undertones as it compliments such skin types really nicely. As it is glaze and glossy it has a lesser wear time on my lips than the above-mentioned shade and stays on for about five to six hours.

– dark espresso (matte) • Carbon – intense black (matte) MAC It’s A Strike Fluidline Pen (€19,00) These eyeliner pens are perfect both for makeup beginners and skilled artists, who want to effortlessly draw the perfect flick. There are three versatile colors you can go for, shades that will ideally match your day-to-day neutral or deep smokey eye looks. • Vintage Brown – deep dark brown • Retro Black – black • Indelibly Blue – deep navy blue MAC It’s A Strike Lipstick (€19,50) Can we have enough of our favorite? Hardly ever, and MAC knows this perfectly well, including some of its most winning colors in the MAC It’s a Strike makeup line, a.k.a. Kim K-approved Honeylove, while also launching new tempting shades you’ll love to wear in fall.

Sin Straight from the bullet, Sin is a really nice brown toned dark vampy red shade. I love shades like these: they are incredibly flattering on me I find and I love pairing them with a good dark brown smokey eye. With a toned down cheek look, I find that still a look I wear on an average work day.

But the Retro Matte finish wasn’t one I was unsure of. I like the regular matte lipsticks by MAC, but the one Retro Matte I had tried until I bought this was Ririwoo from the Rihanna Collection. And that, oh boy, was not a success.

MAC’s latest is the ($21 each for 3.6 g/0.12 oz) which is an intensely pigmented lipstick with a satin finish. The pigment in these lipsticks is so good they are what I’d consider one-swipe wonders. If you’re like me and love the rich pigment and saturated color of matte lipsticks or liquid lipsticks but hate that dried out matte look, the Liptensity lip colors will give you that full coverage without looking fake or dry. There are 24 shades total, all with a satin finish and no shimmer. The range is quite impressive and they seem to have covered a large number of colors from neutrals, corals, plums, reds, pinks and some bold edgy colors. I lip swatched the ones I could see myself wearing and every single color performs well.Texture is smooth and creamy.

Currant So I’m shoddy at applying lip pencil. I am much better at applying lipstick straight from a bullet. Currant is a dark berry tone and because of its dry texture it does not go on very smoothly onto the lips.

We also have a bright purple with a pink undertone that makes for a great pop of color. Lastly there is a deep dark vampy red. MAC lipsticks retail for €19.50 and a MAC Lip Pencil for €16.50.

I ended up picking Sin as it felt more unique and different from other darker lipsticks I already own. Currant The last product I bought was Currant which is a lip pencil. The intended use here is to layer this pencil under any darker lipstick to make it even darker and vampier. I like MAC lip pencils as they come in an array of shades. The texture however is a bit dry and they need frequent sharpening to keep them working as they should. Whirl – Flat Out Fabulous – Sin – Currant In the swatches you can clearly see that Flat Out Fabulous has a slightly different finish than the other two.

Flat Out Fabulous is a very unique shade as it is the perfect blend between a pink and a purple and therefore a lot more wearable than it looks in the tube. Sin Now I’m all about that dark red lip for the fall and winter time. And I didn’t own any yet by MAC!

MAC Cosmetics knows how to please Selena’s fans and keep her music and art vivid in their memory. As the brand’s Senior Vice President James Gager noted: “Selena’s talent and beauty, inside and out have, have left a colourful, meaningful impact in the world, that has continued to grow over the last two decades.

Whilst the ABH formula might stick around for longer, it is less forgiving (especially on dry lips or prominent lines) than Colourpop’s Ultra Satin Lips. I like the colour but the formula might not be for everyone. Is a beautiful, deep cranberry shade with a matte finish. Despite being matte, it projects a little bit of a sheen and sits incredibly comfortably on the lips (the Colourpop Lippie Stix formulas definitely deserves more attention than they get). I like to wear this lip with minimal makeup. Maybe a slight contour on the lids with lashings of mascara, a super lightweight base (if any) so that my freckles still show through and maybe a touch of bronzer for definition. Keeping everything light will keep the look ‘un-done’ and can easily be worn no matter what time of day.

Liptensity Lipstick, $21 each, pushes the boundaries of color. With the expertise of tetrachromat Maureen Seaberg — who has the genetic ability to see up to 100 million hues imperceptible to the average naked eye — MAC has created an unprecedented spectrum of 24 shades with extreme, undeniable colour intensity, using groundbreaking High-Frequency Tetrachromatic Pigments technology.

The strict trends sounds exactly like what you'd imagine. They're harsher, more dramatic, and more extreme. As for the loose trends, they're more diffused and natural-looking with colors blending seamlessly into the skin. Both major types of trends include very specific ways to achieve them. I'm going to run down the best MAC Cosmetics products to use to embrace the look, as well as examples of these stunning new autumn trends.

Try Bubblegum PinkI know, bright pink for spring? But pink was a huge color trend this year, especially for lipstick. You'll turn heads and light up a room in your bubblegum pink lipstick. Remember, when wearing bright shades, there's really no need to fuss with the rest of your makeup. Keep everything simple, as all of the attention will be on your gorgeous lips. This Maybelline shade kind of reminds me of a Barbie doll, which just makes me like it even more. Try ChestnutIt might not be the color you expected to see, but chestnut lipstick is huge this spring.

Currant The last product I bought was Currant which is a lip pencil. The intended use here is to layer this pencil under any darker lipstick to make it even darker and vampier. I like MAC lip pencils as they come in an array of shades.

In no particular order: is an easy to wear, everyday shade for this time of year. It’s that mauvey pink tone that’s not too dark but deeper than a your lips but better shade and a shade that I like to call a ‘transition’ shade, bridging the gap between the brighter shades and lighter formulas of the summer, and the deeper shades and bolder formulas of the fall and winter.
