Reindexing Outlook 2016 For Mac
I'm on an iMac late 2014 model with Outlook 2016 Mac. What I did was move all messages to another temporary folder within Outlook and then back to their respective folders one folder at a time or to whatever messages you want indexed again. It is all of Outlook not just mail, as contacts are also not found if i search contact. But if i search using spotlight it finds contacts. But if i then select, it says no card. I have tried adding hd to spotlight privacy and removing again.

You are right, Notes/Domino is no match for Outlook/Exchange. I think large enterprises don’t really have a choice. There are no alternatives to Exchange/Office 365. However, things are different for small and mid-sized organizations. Since Exchange can now only be managed with PowerShell, it is no longer an option for companies who can’t afford to hire an engineer just to manage their email server. Those organizations either move to Office 365 or G Suite. I think small and mid-sized organizations don’t really need to “automate.” After the mail system is up, they add a new user every once in a while and that is all the administration that needs to be done.

I don't know if you all have found the solution but this should fix it. Just tested and resolved with the following process.
I then do an email search, no results. Wait 30 seconds and it all appears. In spotlight it is now showing as 65% indexed. But the delay is really annoying. I have several NAS drives and other data servers on our network here. Could Spotlight be trying to index everything?

I have run the scanpst on my main.ost folder, as well as the other folders and for a while it seems that the search indexes and then it just seems to reset and omit all Outlook results / indexing.
I then went into search contacts. It showed no contacts. I tried a search, nothing found again i opened spotlight and search for a contact. With the outlook contact search in background. It found it, and then all contacts appeared in outlook search.

To see if it is, type the following into Terminal mdutil /Volumes/name -s replacing 'name' with the name of your external drive. If it is, you can tell it NEVER to index external drives by adding “/Volumes' to the Spotlight privacy pane. To do that, in Finder, pull down the Finder menu to Go To Folder and type in /Volumes and hit return.
I think this entire strategy to embrace other operating systems than Windows is failing. Microsoft is obviously unable to hire the right people. I mean what kind of macOS or Linux expert really wants to work for Microsoft?
This command took longer for my computer to process as it appeared to entirely rebuild the corrupted Spotlight index from the ground up rather than merely re-indexing a mess. Restarted computer afterward. Now Outlook and Spotlight are searching and finding my recent and emails dating back seven years for first time in a week. Hope it stays that way. Hard to say what that did, but from what I can see, that command has nothing to do with Spotlight. There isn't even an argument for -E.
