We are currently setting up Macs for new faculty/staff through the use of some AppleScripts that configure them as required and bind the Macs to the Active Directory. We don’t have enough personnel to maintain something like a DeployStudio server, (we have to also maintain WSUS and portions of a Windows AD). The admins set up encryption after configuration, save the key in a safe area, and then “enable” the faculty/staff user after that person first logs in.
