The new dark theme looks absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro isn't eligible for the Mojave update, so no dark mode for me yet, but Apple will at least release Safari 12 for High Sierra. Apple is making great strides while the competition, namely Chrome, is stagnating. Chrome has always been ugly, but the Material Design refresh coming this fall will make it look even uglier and less native to boot (the hamburger menu is no longer a native Cocoa menu, but some weird looking travesty of a thing). It looks like a badly designed web app. Firefox, while nicer looking, has bad battery life, poor multi-touch support, etc. Safari is actively improving, thankfully, though extension are still a lost cause.

Called Firefox Monitor, the website lets visitors check if their accounts have been included in known data breaches and the types of data exposed in each breach. The security tool is the result of a partnership between Mozilla and HaveIBeenPwned.com (HIBP), a site set up by security researcher Troy Hunt that includes a database of email addresses that are known to have been compromised in data breaches. Thanks to the partnership, Firefox is able to check email addresses against the HIBP database via a method of anonymized data sharing (full details can be found in Troy Hunt's blog post). The new tool builds on Firefox's existing HIBP integration, which tells users if a site they are visiting was previously exposed in a data breach. In February, password management app 1Password announced its own partnership with HIBP, which lets users check that their passwords haven't been leaked online. Since that time, developers AgileBits have built the Pwned Passwords database list into its 1Password desktop apps. As of today, users can also search HIBP from directly within 1Password via the Watchtower feature in the web version of the product.Mozilla says it will begin trialling the new integration between HIBP and Firefox to make breach data searchable over the coming weeks.Firefox Quantum is available for macOS as a free download directly from the Mozilla website. Ever since I started using Firefox 57, I noticed that my CPU temps would always go up to 99C and stays there all the time. This happens even when I'm using a brand-new profile, opening just the default pages FF opens when a new profile is created. The worst offenders seem to be JS-rich apps like Facebook and Google Drive, whereas if I let static sites sit for a while the temps tend to go back down.

By default, Firefox now creates up to four separate processes for web page content, so the first four tabs each use those four processes, and additional tabs run using threads within those processes. This leads to multiple tabs within a process sharing the browser engine that already exists in memory, instead of each one creating their own. In addition to the under-the-hood improvements, the redesigned. Earlier this week Firefox announced its upcoming 'Quantum' browser that will bring twice the internet browsing speeds when it launches on November 14. Ahead of that major update, the company is now releasing a few minor additions to Firefox on desktop that will let you save screenshots, share content more easily between your computer and smartphone, and more.Screenshots allow you to capture any area within the Firefox browser without needing to download new software. I do a lot of multi-tasking with Word, Preview, Outlook and Firefox often open simultaneously. My older MacBookPro didn’t have this heat problem and I ran it the same way. Any additional thoughts welcomed as I continue to explore problems. Hey, not sure what’s the technical specification for your new MacBook. Since you deal with a lot of apps at once, the RAM might be inadequate to process multiple application requests. Alternatively I could take a few shots in the dark but I think we'll have more luck if we start from a known offending app. How does the framerate look with no light sources? You could also play with some settings ahead of me and see how your app reacts. In particular, I'm very curious to see the effects of the following (both on their own and in combination with one another): • In the app/resources/light_sources/[name].yml file, set shadowcaster to false. (It defaults to true.) • In the teapot model (the model, not the mesh), set the lit property to false. (It defaults to true.) • In the teapot model (the model, not the mesh), set the casts_shadows property to false. (It defaults to true.) Note that I only expect the lit property to actually result in visible differences; the other flags won't do anything visibly unless you add a shadow map to the material, BUT they do affect how Jax renders the scene, so they could have an effect on framerate even if they don't change the look of the scene.
Once launched, it's quite speedy--faster than the current Safari but not the Safari beta. Apparently, memory leaks have been addressed strongly and that's helped a lot to aid stability. It really doesn't feel like a beta but add-ons still don't work.

But there are some really nice Chromium-based browsers that have those same developer tools I'll have to look into that.
Damn, that's a shame. They cut it off pre-mid-2012, right? I am very frustrated.
